fun in the sun

After swim lessons today I decided I wanted to do some shopping before we leave for Boston. We hadn't had lunch yet so we made a stop at Jordan Park and the International Peace Gardens. The kids loved it, but I needed a potty ASAP, so we only saw a small part. I promised we would make a return visit. Notice the swim wrap, I made one for each of my girls yesterday after rotating kid rooms around. I felt like super woman yesterday. We then went shopping at the Gateway, but of course the kids had to play in the fountain. They were of course still in their swim suits. As was I and I sat in the sun just a tad too long because my back got burned. It itches like crazy.
Forgive the pics I didn't have my camera just my cell phone.

Dawson Turned Four.

Like I said, Dawson turned four on Saturday. It makes me just a little bit sad. We were gone until about 4:30 Saturday, so the most we celebrated was opening presents. I feel kindof bad that he got jipped, but he doesn't seem to mind.
We got him a Cyclops action figure. He has been watching X-Men and loves Cyclops. When he opened it he looked at it funny and asked "Whats this?" "It's Cyclops" "Oh Thanks" with that polite drawl. We laughed so hard.

Trek

We had a really great time on Trek. Despite the horrid amounts of rain, the freezing cold temps, and the really heavy hand cart, we wouldn't take the experience back for the world.
We were given really great kids as part of our family. They got along well together, worked very well with each other, and only one drove us up the wall.
I just wanted to share some of the fun pictures that we captured of our adventure. These are not in order, my mouse is acting stupid.
Tug of war, Brooke and Shelby kicking butt. Day one, We were at the back, they put us in alphabetical order. Notice how far ahead team one is. Day four, this was just before we pulled out of camp. And this was our last family picture.
Aren't we the cutest ma and pa ever?
David playing some slap game with our adopted kid Caleb.
Hands that play together work hard together.

I made it, 24 miles in the rain and I am still alive. Trek was an amazing experience. But I will write all about it tomorrow. I just wanted to let you know that I am alive.
Plus my little buddy turned 4 yesterday :( My babe is growing up I am not so sure I am too happy about that. But more on that tomorrow too. Check in because you won't want to miss some fun pictures.

3 hours!!!!!

I didn't have a choice. I unwillingly and knowingly got stuck in this today.
I hadn't seen my husband all day, in one hour it will be his birthday, and we were going to go have dinner at his fave restaurant in Centerville. He had to go to work today and was on his way home 15 minutes after the accident happened. He sat at a complete stand still for nearly 2 hours before they finally started turning cars around. So he told me just to meet him at his moms at 4. So figuring that the accident would be cleared or at least mostly cleared by then, I wouldn't have such a hard time getting through. Plus I had a cousin get married today and we wanted to be to her reception by 6. So I left here at 3. I got to the freeway at 5, and to West Valley by 5:30, and then drove another half hour to Centerville, and then had to drive home (too much car time). Can you believe that??? Man. I have a headache, my legs are sore, my patients is at an all time low and I used a quarter tank of gas to go 40 miles. I can usually use a quarter tank to go 130 miles. We saw cars trying to take a mountain road that didn't exist, so they would go as far as they could and would have to turn around and wait some more. We saw people changing drivers and just getting out to get a drink out of the cooler in the back. We thought about turning around and going through Lehi, but then heard on the radio that, that road was also a 2 to 3 hour wait because people were trying to get through there. What a mess. All I can say is thank heaven that all things must come to an end.

Family Fun

David and I are trying to catch up on some things for the Trail of Faith award and so we decided to take the kids to Temple Square to see the Joseph Smith movie. We ended up having more than an hour to wait for the next movie. So we wandered around TS. We watched movies and learned about Temple Building, saw the Christ statue, and finally made it to the movie. Then afterwards we decided to take a walk around the garden's on top of the CC. Everything was beautiful and the spirit amazing.

Fabulous

We had a really great weekend. It started on Thursday, the kids are out of school and chores have started. I made a chore chart for the kids, we sat down set out the rules and chose the chores. My house will be so clean all summer long, Yea!!! Then Friday after chores we were lazy as could be, watched movies and played video games. We had to make a quick run to Macey's to get David his Fathers Day breakfast (I'll explain in a minute) and then we came home and packed to go to Grandma's. Just before David got home I was checking the pressure in my tires, because my car had been telling me for a week that I had low pressure in one tire. When I found the tire I also found a screw. So instead of leaving for Grandma's then I went and had the tire fixed. Hooray for small inspirations. The two hour drive to Grandma's went really fast and the kids slept for most the drive, so no screaming bored children to deal with. We had yummy dinner and sat around talking until 11. Super fun.
Saturday was another lazy day of getting mini manicures from my sis-in-law, I was freezing all day and praying that it would not rain or the wind wouldn't blow too hard for family pictures that evening. Thank Heaven again that it wasn't too bad. My fab friend Stephanie drove from SF to come take our pics (which haven't been done since I was 11). We took them down on the farm and they were really fabulous. I can't wait to get them back.
We then drove home in the dark and it took 2 and a half hours and we were tired. Sleep came quick that night.
Sunday was Father's Day at our house. David's birthday always runs into Fathers Day and we are really busy this month and have to celebrate Dawson's on Father's Day, so I picked yesterday to celebrate our super Daddy and Hubby. I made him his favorite food for breakfast, a breakfast pizza, which he ended up really loving, gave him a new watch, and pampered him all day. Finished it off with his favorite dinner and lots and lots of praise.
So it was all in all a great weekend. I can't wait to get through this week. Just one week until Trek and only 3 until we go to Boston, wow fun fun summer here we come.
