Happy Halloween!!!

It's finally come and gone (too fast I say). The kids had a great Halloween and have way too much candy. But I doubt it will all get eaten, we still have some from last year. Do you think I should throw it away? We first went to Dave's work and got the most candy from there. Cait then went with some of her cousins around Grandma's neighborhood. We only went to a few houses here in Tooele, then came home and put the very tired and worn out children to bed.
You should have seen Cora at Dave's trick-or-treat. She was grabbing handfuls, dumping it into her bucket then quickly moving on. At first she wouldn't leave the bowls, but then figured it out that there was more too come. Dawson, just wandered off. Scared me to death, but he didn't seem to care that he wasn't with mom and dad when Dave found him about out the front door. I guess there were plenty of camera's around we wouldn't have lost him for long.
So that was our Halloween. Now that it's over we can start thinking about CHRISTMAS!! Holy Crow.

I took this picture this morning of the kids in their tie-die pumpkin shirts.

Weekend In Review

What a weekend. We went to my mom and dad's this weekend for our annual Halloween Party. Well and branding cows too.
Friday was pretty uneventful except that I sewed my first zipper onto clothing. Yeah for me right. I also didn't sleep. Miss Belle was not comfortable at my moms and was screaming all night long. It was not the greatest night at my moms ever but not the worst. So needless to say Saturday I was very tired and had to go do bows at my moms Super Saturday, which lasted 6 hours and help set up for the Halloween party. The party was fun though, we had all sorts of games including, Pumpkin Golf and a cake walk. My sisters and I have all decided that this Halloween party was the best tradition ever started.
Sunday was great. I got my hair fixed and I slept better because Dave took Cora home Saturday night. Sunday night however, was not so great. We got a call from a friend (some of you may remember the Bettridges that lived in our ward) that their son was in an accident and was severely injured. He was life flighted to PCH from Cedar City in critical condition. So we stressed all night about him. And decided to go visit them this morning. It was great to see our friends, but in a really sad circumstance. Their son is doing better and looks to be returning some brain function. But it will be a long road to recovery.
The most exciting event of today was when after we took the opportunity to go on an afternoon date, a homeless man appeared out of nowhere demanding food. He didn't ask for cash just food, but was very insistent. Dave finally just shoved my left overs into his hand and told him to leave us alone. I was really scared and was grateful that my protector was there and I wasn't alone.
So all in all it was a pretty busy weekend. Stay tuned for pictures and please pray for our friends.

Blessings

I was cleaning my very messy kitchen today (I mean no silverware left, kind of dirty), when I started thinking of all the things I am grateful for, so I thought I would share (since it is that time of year and all).
I'M THANKFUL FOR:
1. My practically perfect in every way, husband. What would I do without my Dave? I really don't know? I am the luckiest girl to have such a wonderful father to my children and the greatest eternal companion. What more can I ask for? Why am I crying?
2. My practically perfect in every way, children. Cait is pure as pure can be, Dawson is the funniest, handsomest boy around, and Miss Belle's search for adventure keeps me on my toes. I love them more than anything in the world. Here come the tears.
3. My practically stupid in every way, dog. My dream when I finally had a home of my own, was to get a dog. Little did I know she would be as stupid as Labbie. Okay she's not that bad, the first few years were that bad, but now I think the drugs have finally worn off and she is just fine and I think she might be just a little bit loyal? I like having a dog around when everyone else is gone, she keeps me company and eats Miss Belles leftovers.
4. David has a week off of school.! No more to be said
5. My newly cleaned kitchen. I have been canning like crazy and I am very grateful that I am finally down to only one set of dishes left to go into the dish washer.
6. Quiet moments, kind of like right now. The only sound in my house is the radio (turned down low) and the dishwasher. I love moments like this.
7. Life Long Friends. Not to leave anyone out, but there are three friends that I hope to have until I die. Holly, Jeanine and Stephanie. I really don't know if you could find better friends in this world. Look I'm crying again. Girlfriends I love you. I love my new friends too and I am grateful to have them living so close by that I can have a good friend fix whenever I need it.
8. Hair Bows. Okay I know that's weird, but I've never really had a hobby and I am grateful that I enjoy making hair bows so much.
9. For empty laundry baskets. What??? What empty laundry baskets? A girl can dream, right?
10. And at the moment, last but not least, blogging. I have always loved keeping a journal, but since my kids were born it happens less and less. So with blogging I can keep a journal and keep up with good friends. Thanks blogger.

Is this normal?

I was washing dishes and Dawson came in and told me that Cora had climbed up the ladder and was on Caits bed. How did this happen I thought, Dawson is too little to help and Cait is watching Fiddler on the Roof? I should have known that she could do it herself. She is very brave and finally of my three kids I have a climber. She climbs everything. I guess I should fix their bedroom door so that she can't climb up there and break her neck falling.

Do you think I should change her diaper?

Ramblings

Two things: I have juiced and yielded over 50 quarts of grape juice!!!! Can you believe it? It has taken me a total of about 20 hours to finish and an enormous back ache. But the juice is delicious and we will be all the healthier for it.
Number 2: Dawson just might be a vegetarian. He learned yesterday where meat came from and he was not too happy to find out that we have been eating cows, chickens, and pigs. He learned that through hunting we kill animals and then eat them. He was all about shooting them, but he said only mommy and daddy can eat meat. Even Cait and Cora can't eat it. He went on and on about not eating any more meat. Apparently, today he has not thought about it, because he just ate a bunch of ham.

Number 3: Sorry I need to add a number three. Miss Belle said Pretty yesterday. She grabbed my necklace and said "pretty". I was so proud.

More And More And More

I guess I should not have been so ambitious with canning the apples, because now Dave has me doing Grapes!!! Since Dave's Grandpa died we wondered who would be using the grapes from his vines, no one had claimed them yet so it was my job today to go pick them and now I have to juice them and can them. PROBLEM, no one in Tooele has bottles anymore?? What's a girl to do? Well since we took the grapes, Ann doesn't need all of her jars, fortunately she has a lot, because from the pictures you will see I have a lot of grapes to juice.

Aren't they cute? Cait was a very big helper today. But there was still snow on the ground at grandma's so it was cold and her little hands were freezing.

Fire Station

I had the privilege of walking Cait and her kindergarten class to the fire station today. Cait was so excited to have mom in the classroom with her and it was fun to see how she reacts to her teacher and friends. I was really glad to be able to spend that time with her. She loved the station and has been talking about it all day. She even gave daddy a lesson in fire safety today.

My camera was on the fritz so I had to use my cell phone, so sorry about the fuzzy pics.
Cait and one of her bestest friends,
Class pic anyone? I accidentally cut out the other teacher and the one fire fighter that talked the most. Oops.

I blamed the noise on the baby.

Hairy Apples????

Okay a little bit of a creepy title, but it's October right?
First things first. I like to do funny things to Cait's hair sometimes. She wanted her hair to be curly for school today, so last night after a bath, this is what I did to her.

And this morning this is what it looked like. This is before I combed it.

And after.

No I didn't send her to school like that. I pulled it back. She thought it looked glamorous, but her mean boy cousins made fun of her.

Today we bottled apples. I wanted to do it the easiest way possible, so we peeled them and put them in water then sealed them. Easy as that. But tomorrow I am going to be making jam and apple butter so it may not be as easy. We have a lot of apples so if you are interested let me know and I might be willing to part with some.
The little baby jar is Cait. She wants to watch it for a long time and see what happens to the apples.

When We're helping We're Happy....

Apple Pickin' time has come. Maybe a little early, but I am in hurry to have canning season over. So the furling and I got busy. I am a little afraid of ladders and falling so I couldn't get all the way to the top, Dave will have to do that when he gets home, but we did get a few. Probably enough to do some Apple Butter and that's it. I'm alright with that though. The kids did great at first and then got sick of helping when I asked them to clean up the apples that had fallen from the tree and were all yucky. So much for being happy when helping. Enjoy the pics.Buddy worked hard even though he hurt his finger. Which is a big feet for him. He usually quits when he gets the smallest of boo-boos. Checkout Miss Belle, always trying to steal the spot light.
So I took a pic of her so that she would be happy.
Look at that hair fly. She wants to be a super model. Maybe Herbal Essences will hire her for some kid shampoo or something.
The crew at work, can you believe it? I hardly could, it was a miracle.
