Revelation

I had a realization yesterday afternoon. I have very little will power. When I decide I want to change something in my life, i.e. weight, exercise, cleaning, laundry, I am really good at it for a week sometimes less and then I just give up. I chalk it up to I just can't do it it's too hard and I just give up. When I make a decision to take the TV out of our lives it lasts one day until my favorite show comes on and then I go back to letting the kids watch it for hours and hours a day and myself for at least 3 hours a night. Well last night I was thinking alot about my dilemma with sincere concern and a desire to create change when I started to read the Conference talks from April's Conference. The first one I read was by Julie B. Beck. She talked about just bucking up and doing our responsibilities as mothers. Usually when I read talks about what a mother should be doing it just depresses me. It is overwhelming what we should be doing. But her talk was more about relying on the spirit to guide us and allowing Heavenly Father to help us do what we have to do. I also read Elder Ballard's talk on Mothers and Daughters. He told us that we have to teach our daughters to be mothers and teach them how to feel the spirit. I was completely uplifted and ready to take baby steps, until I can change completely.
Today I am starting with my kitchen. I have learned that if my kitchen is a mess I just don't want to clean anything. But if I can have that one small goal to start with making sure the kitchen is clean every day then the rest of the house might follow. I am completely energized and ready to be the mother I have neglected being. I am grateful for Heavenly Father and his ability to guide us and help us overcome our shortcomings.

Prettiest Girl Ever!

Last night was Cait's dance recital! It made me cry. I was so excited for her ballet this year. I loved the song, I LOVED the costumes and all put together the dance was beautiful. I wish I would have not been in a hurry and was able to get a better picture of her in her costume, but maybe I will dress her up again on another day and take a pic, but for now this is what I've got.
Her jazz was good too, just not my favorite. It grew on me the more I saw it at various competitions and they did really well again last night.
The video stinks, I need a new camcorder, but you can see it well enough.

Great News!

I have been waiting and wondering for months now what next year's school year would be like and where my kiddo's would be attending school! I found out yesterday! They were excepted to the Excelsior Academy in Erda!!! We have known that Dawson was going to kindergarten there since February, but we weren't going to send him if Cait couldn't go too and she was #3 on the waiting list. I was really starting to worry the other day when I got an email about kindergarten registration so I just asked about Cait and told them of my dilemma. They were so quick to respond yesterday with the good news. I am so relieved that I know what is going on for school next year and so excited for my kiddo's. I think they will both be pushed to achieve more, and be better citizens overall. If all goes right, they will go now through the eighth grade there.
I was so excited that I went school shopping last night. All the stores have uniforms on clearance so I was super excited especially since they are super expensive. It's kindof a bummer that they have to wear the same thing everyday, but I can see the benefits of school uniforms i.e. modesty, commonality all the good things. I thought I would show you some of the cute things Cait will get to wear next year. Dawson's stuff is pretty boring, white collared shirts, khaki pants, nothing exciting but I was able to get Cait some fun stuff. I actually also went shopping this morning too. All the stuff I got from Old Navy last night was on sale but I couldn't find a coupon to make it even lower, but as fate would have it I got a 25% off coupon this morning in my email. So I bought all the same stuff this morning that I purchased last night and I will just return the first set as soon as I get it. I am a little OCD about getting a good deal, especially the next day.

Happy Mothers Day

I always have great Mothers Day's. I have the absolute best family in the world. Cait even said yesterday that it wasn't fair that David was sleeping cuz who was going to take care of them? I certainly could not it was Mother's Day and I wasn't supposed to do anything. So sweet.
My beautiful morning started by sleeping in till 8. Amazing! I don't know the last time I did that. Then I was escorted outside to a beautiful and delicious garden breakfast. Blueberry waffles, honeydew, sausage, orange juice and yogurt. Our lilacs always bloom around Mothers Day and a beautiful bouquet graced our table. I was also surprised by a gorgeous little butterfly necklace from the kids. I had to find it, it was hiding in the lilac bouquet. David said the sweetest thing about it too. The four little lavender wings represented the four people in my family that love me and the body is me, I hold them all together. I will treasure this little tiny butterfly for the rest of my life! I love my little family so much, they are so good to me and are so patient with me and very forgiving of my lack of know how in being a mother.

Let's Go Fly A Kite!

Up to the highest heights! That was our Sunday afternoon fun today. Cait got two new kites for her birthday, so we took one out for a test run. Perfect windy day for kites. Not too strong and not too wimpy! Perfect!!! Cait's kite flew great and stayed up the whole time. Dawson's kite wasn't as great and kept falling, especially if I tried to get it to fly very high.

Sweets is 7!!!!

I can't believe that my Sweets is 7!!! Holy Crow!!! We had an awesome day Friday! It started at 3 a.m. when an overly excited girl ended up in my bed because she is so excited she can't sleep. Well needless to say after that neither could I. Then we had her favorite breakfast, Crepes filled with strawberries! Yummy! She even got to break in our new Happy Birhtday plate (so cute BTW). She spent the rest of most the day at school and I went to get her out early just to give her a little break. After the other kids got out of school she had her bestest little girl friends come to play. They were very sweet and brought her presents, which she couldn't wait to open! When play day was over Grandma and Grandpa Childs got here and Grandma took Cait to Walmart to pick out a present. Closely following that Aunt Dawn and her boyfriend Shayne and his son came, followed by Grandma and Grandpa Young and Grandma Elggren. Aunt Heather and Uncle Jason and clan followed them. We had a great group of family to celebrate with Cait. We had yummy tacos for dinner and red velvet cupcakes and mint chocolate and cookie dough ice cream for dessert. All in all it was great!
Sorry this picture is out of order. She got some new doll house furniture from Aunt Dawn and Grandma Childs. The cute nursery was from Grandma and the dining room is from Aunt Dawn. She loves them. I love them but the dining room came with four sets of itty bitty silver ware. They are going to be vacuumed up within a week I am sure.
Apples to Apples is one of Cait's favorite games. We had a great time playing with Grandma Childs, Aunt Dawn, Shayne and Vincent. It's a fun game to make you laugh!

Rain Boots!

There is something magical about rain boots and rain coats. It just takes me back to the good ole days. I was so grateful to find the kids rain boots at Target on clearance, they look so cute.I took this picture the other day when it was not raining. They love their boots.

This was this morning. As soon as Cora noticed it was raining. She wanted to go out in a t-shirt and patties, but I being the good mother that I am changed her, put her coat and boots handed her an umbrella and out she went.
