Kindergartner of ther Year!!!!

Tuesday was a very proud day in our house. Dawson was given the Builder of the Year Award at school. Not of the whole school just the kindergarten, but out of 82 kids that's something pretty special. A builder at the charter school is someone that works hard, has good standards and is always ready to learn. He was given a little trophy and certificate about why he was chosen for the Award. It says "Dawson consistently shows that he is a builder in every way. He is a hard worker and attentive listener in reading. Dawson often helps other scholars to do their best by encouraging and motivating them. He is always ready to learn new information during Core Knowledge time and responds enthusiastically during direct instruction lessons! Dawson is always kind and shows respect to everyone who works with him. It is a joy to have Dawson in our class this year. He is truly an all-star college kindergartner!!!!"
Look at the look on his face? Says it all. And there I am crying.
Isn't that so sweet? He was so cute walking up there (in front of the whole school amidst loud cheering) with his teacher and I couldn't help but cry. That and they were playing Josh Grobin's You Raise Me Up. Dawson wasn't sure what to think (he didn't know before hand). He had a look on his face like "what the heck is this all about?" He told me after that he didn't think it would be him, he was sure it was someone else. He loved the attention he got in class afterward too. Everyone told him congratulations. The cool thing to is his teacher received the Teacher of the Year Award, so it was fun for them to celebrate together.
All Builders (one from each class except 7th and 8th, there were two from those grades. And Teacher, staff and volunteer of the year).
We are so proud of him for working so hard. We honestly have the best kids in the world. Cait told me today she wants to work super hard and get Builder of the Year next year (or she's staying at the charter school til she does).
