Goals revisited

Like I said I am giving you an update on my goals for the year. Here's the list and the progress (progress in red):

  • Read the Book of Mormon at least once by the end of 2009 (twice would be better, but we have to start small.) I am doing okay. I am almost through 1st Nephi. I know small book, long month, but I struggle. I am at least reading 2 to 3 times a week. Better than not at all like before.

  • Attend the Temple at least twice a month. (That may sound easy to some, but for David and I it is really hard, we are horrible Temple attenders.) Didn't happen. I haven't renewed my recommend yet so I didn't make it, but Dave is giving me my interview tomorrow so I will have it signed on Wednesday by the stake.

  • FHE every Monday. That's another one we are horrible at. We spend a lot of time together on Monday and we always try to do something, but we forget to add the spiritual part in there, so that's really my goal. Doing GREAT. We had it every week but this week, and I think we missed because we were all sick.

  • Make job charts for me and the kids. I made them the other day, just in time too. (see previous post). I didn't get one made for me, but I am still trying to figure out how to do that.

  • Get out of bed and do yoga at least 3 times a week. I have been a pro on this one, once again except for this week, it was fun times and I was sick and just didn't fell like it. And I don't have to get up early, I bought a couple of video's so I have been doing it at night.

  • Read the Book of Mormon with the kids as part of reading time each night. Not happening, I actually forgot that this was a goal. I know horrible goal if you can't even remember it, but now I have had a reminder and I will get it done.

  • No computer or TV until the kids are in bed. That is really hard for me, at least the computer part is, the TV is easy. But I am going to start out slow, I get 15 minutes in the morning to just check if anyone emailed or responded. Slow and steady wins the race. I am not fulfilling it completely. I am better though, I don't spend as much time on the computer all together. This goal is on my mind a lot and if I find myself at the computer in the middle of the day, I make it quick and get off. Baby steps.

  • My final goal should work well if I succeed with the last one. Spending time playing, teaching, crafting and all around spending time with my kids. Since I spend so much time worrying about the computer, with that out I should be better at paying attention to them. (Bad mom I know). Yes I am doing better. I am not as sharp with the kids and I am purposely making time instead of being dragged into it kicking and screaming. I think by working on my other goals it makes this one a lot easier.

Stay tuned in at the end of Feb for another update. If I succeed I just might add a few more.

The powers out...

Okay it's not because the power went out that I made these, it's because I was bored, but the title worked. I saw chore charts like these at a boutique that I went to before Christmas and one of my resolutions was to make myself and kids a chore chart. So here you go. They are not quite finished I just need the little markers to go on them, but they are mostly done. Oh the things I can do when I am bored and have the fixin's at hand.

PUKE!!!

For like 2 months I have been talking about the girls night out that started yesterday and ran through today. All of Dave's sister's, cousins and aunts get together, eat, play bingo, sleep, eat and go to a movie. This morning when I woke up Dave called and said that Dawson had thrown up last night twice. I just laughed and punched the air, because he always has it so easy. Never has life interrupted. So I was just laughing that he had to deal with that. But an hour later he called and said Cora was throwing up and that is just not funny. So instead of going to a movie and lunch, I came home to two sick kids and a stinky house. Yea for me!!!
Just FYI, last night was fun, but I didn't win at bingo AGAIN. That's two years in a row.

LIfe Happens

Okay sorry I keep changing my background but that last one reminded me of pepto and I was sick of it. So there's a new one for you.
Yesterday we got the kids all hyped up dressed and ready to go swimming. Dave checked on line for swim times and we were all a go for 6 o'clock. We get there and they closed at 6. What??? It was MLKing Day and I guess they needed to celebrate. After the instant break down of tears from Dawson, we came up with going bowling to stop him from crying. Not as pocket friendly as swimming, but it was fun, and I beat David by 15 points. Yea I rocked the house last night!!! We had ice cream bars and sent the kids to bed. I did yoga last night, which I sooo love and will do the rest of my life for sure. But I felt great and slept great too.
Today was a day of inauguration, inauguration and more inauguration. I am a bit of a history buff so I had to watch it. I really hope Obama helps are country and doesn't end up making it worse that's all I can say. But in between, I took the kids to Bugs' (thanks) did Pilate's and took a shower in complete silence (when does that ever happen in the middle of the day?) And when Dave got home, we celebrated that Cait got all 3's on her second term report card and went to Applebee's. Super fun. So now at the end of the day I hope I can walk in the morning because my ribs and muscles hurt. But I am determined to be flat stomached and fitting in my jeans again, by March. Wish me luck (and please don't puke at that last sentence. I am honestly concerned about my figure, not my weight because I know that isn't the problem, just the bulging stomach and sagging butt).

Weekend in review.

My dad's and my nephews birthday were last week, so I made the trip to Gunny to celebrate. And what a weekend it was. No sleep, wet child, throw up and oh so much more. Here's the rundown.

Friday: No school, get up in the morning, apologize to my family again for being a jerk the night before (thanks for those of you that gave support) packed, and was out the door for the more than 3 hour long trip. I had to stop in Spanish Fork to pick up some pics that's why the normally 2 hour trip turned into 3. When we got to grandma's, grandpa had made us some lunch, and cousin Keaton and Boston came to visit. That was a challenge to get two babies to stay away from the stairs. A couple of kids got hit by other kids and there were tears shed. But all was going okay, then around 5:30 the house became a house of kaos. Four more children arrived as well as my sister, too many people in such a small house, but Cait and Evan and Tim were happy, because now
I quit, if you want to know about my weekend you'll just have to not, I just erased all but the portion you see and I am not going to retype it. I'll only fill in the details. Cait threw up Saturday night at Uncle Kens and I had to go pick her up in Manti at midnight, Cora drank so much she was constantly wet, Cora climbed in the garbage can, she ate cat food, I had to write a letter for my dad and I got my hair trimmed. There, you would have had a much better story, but STUPID COMPUTER is all I can say.

A day in the life....

Last night was TV night. We hardly ever watch TV as a family, but AI started last night. Dave and I have been pretty faithful since the first season. As we were watching it, Dave tipped the recliner over and was pushing the kids down on the back if they answered his questions wrong. He would ask Buddy and instead of answering Buddy would just throw himself off. Miss Belle even got into it. I guess one time though, Cait got pushed off a little to awkward. When she came off she was screaming and blood was pouring out of her mouth. I started to panic I was sure she had bitten through her tongue and I was freaking out, and about 10 seconds from puking all over the poor screaming girl. Dave took over when he noticed I was turning green and took her in the bathroom. After about 5 minutes they came back in and the verdict was positive, it was a bloody nose that was not coming out of her nose, but going down the back of her throat. AAAh I have never seen so much blood in one mouth before. She had to swallow it at first, gag!!! Needless to say the throwing off the chair ended in a hurry.

Potty update: Last night while I was on the phone, I heard commotion in the bathroom, sure enough it was Cora. She was trying to put the little toilet seat on the boy rim of the toilet. She about fell in. But I thought she was just playing so I moved her and went back to talking. I heard a grunt and turned and there she stood pushing. So I ripped the diaper off and tried to get her to the toilet before she was done. I failed, but think that I got her attention. And then today while we were at the store, she looked at me and said "peepoo", sure enough she was wet. I need to rip the diaper off her and just move to panties. I could be done with dumb diapers by now.

Last thing. I am morning today. My husband's class starts today:( I had him all too myself for a month, A MONTH! I am used to him being available and now he will be non-existent. Oh the wife of a student.
