Goals for an almost 6 year old

We went to see Alisha's puppies on Friday. Bad Idea! Cait was non stop talk of wanting a puppy. We already have a dog. An obnoxious beagle that was raised in my husbands lab, doped on fentayl for two years. We love her, but we often forget that we even have her. So why do we need or even want another dog? But, Cait was so adamant on it that David made her a deal: If she could keep a little patch of a garden tended (ie; watered, weeded) then she could have a puppy. WHAT? Whatever? I am a little excited about the thought of having a puppy, but I know it will be a novelty and will get old just like Labby. However, Cait was outside in her little patch of garden today pulling weeds and digging furrows for an hour and a half. I guess teaching our already hard working daughter to work even harder isn't such a bad thing.
