WHAT????

I read this on a friends Blog and I have to pass it on. I can't believe this is even in question. Children have been raised by their parents for centuries and so what is wrong with parents raising their children now. GOOD GRIEF! I am flabbergasted. Please read the article and others like it, lets do something about this. read it here

But it does have a FEW valid points. Don't you think children (up to age 18 - remember) deserve accurate information on birth control? (at least make an INFORMED choice). And doesn't our own church preach freedom of choice - especially in religious matter? We might not like it -but our children (whatever their age) can chose their own religious inclinations.

I would hope that my child would come to me for help with getting info on BC, and I don't like the ability it would give them to have an abortion without consent, and yes if my child chooses not to follow my religion I will be okay with that but I don't want to be told by the UN that what I am doing is wrong?

Children do not need information about birth control from the state, that is my job. There are some who will neglect this obligation to their children, but why is it the state's responsibility to teach them, what about a church leader or a friend who has been informed?

Our church does not teach the freedom of any choice, we have the freedom to choose the right We are commanded to use our agency to chose the right not what we feel like. We put restrictions on children's right to choose for themselves because they do not have enough experience to choose the right for themselves. This is why, for instance, our church has standards on modesty. Just because we give them all the information about why modesty in dress is good and what the Lord expects, the church does not give teenagers the right to choose what they wear to church functions such as a stake dance.

I hope I didn't offend anyone. I just think, as with most things, there are some good ideas and some bad ideas. I DO think parents should be in charge.

Our church DOES support free agency - the abilty to chose whatever you want. It doens't mean you are free from consequences - but you can do - basically - whatever you want to do in this day and age.

Sure you can be 'commanded' to do good, but obviously, not everyone cares about that. All the church and even God can give us most of the time is advice. We still have to chose our own path - even at stake dances. You have never been to one where one person was immodest? That was their choice - they might get sent home, but they still made their choice.

I am not offended, but all of the parts good and bad may someday be law in our country, that is why you can not pick and choose good and bad with it.
